This old town in the province of Burgos gets its name from the Muslim hero Mahamud. Lots of important facts in the history of Castilla have taken place in this picturesque village, located near the Roman road which runs from Clunia to Cantabria.

Entering through the arch of Santa María, the arch of Villahoz, or the already disappeared arch of Vascones, you can appreciate the enormous importance and greatness of this village.

Its narrow streets, full of houses, adorned with coats of arms, take us to a huge and magnificent square where a slender roll, gives us samples of their past greatness. We can admire the town hall with its wide arches and a lofty Renaissance facade, houses built in regular symmetry and the majestic church with its ten altarpieces, pride of the people and admiration of visitors. In Mahamud, you'll find simple people you will be able to enjoy with, sharing the great wines of the wine cellars of this village.
