The origins of Villaoz date back to the tenth century, when it was called by the Mozarabic name "Villa Fabze". You will find it in the region bathed by the river Arlanza and, walking through its streets, you will discover the charm of the traditional Castilian architecture in its peasants and noble houses, built, following the Castilian tradition, with stone and adobe. The distribution of its streets and alleys is conditioned by the remains of the ancient wall. The main square is still the centre of the life of this village.

The court roll and the monumental church combining Gothic and Renaissance with an interior decorated with Baroque altarpieces, worth a stop on the way.

Its wine heritage also requires special attention. There are more than a hundred traditional wine cellars dug in the ground, used to produce wine for family consumption, all grouped into a small hill overlooking the village. Wineries, often included in the same wine cellars, retain the traditional elements of the press, as some of them are still used.
